Year 1 Help The Little Red Hen
The story of “The Little Red Hen” got the Year 1s thinking about friendship, sharing and kindness.
We talked about being brave and strong and working hard just like the Little Red Hen. We loved this
traditional tale, reading different versions and sequencing the story. The children decided that the dog, cat, and pig should write sorry letters to the Little Red Hen for not being good friends and helping her.
In our maths lessons, we worked on one more and one less as well as developing our counting on skills. Our topic lesson was great fun as we drew a bird’s eye view map of our classroom to help our toys find their way around. We loved visiting the rabbits and guinea pigs to develop our understanding of mammals and their characteristics during our science lesson.
