Year 1 Investigate Shape Properties

Year 1 met Plop the baby owl this week and fell in love with this cute little barn owl who was afraid of the dark.

Jill Tomlinson’s book “The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark” has beautiful illustrations and we loved reading the story of Plop’s adventures as he tries to find out about the dark, meeting characters like a black cat, some boy scouts and a man with a telescope. We talked a lot about the character's thoughts and feelings as well as using speech. Our shape work continues with pattern making and investigating shape properties. We enjoyed gathering data and sorting shapes by these properties. In science, we continued to learn about weather and seasons and worked on some spring and winter art to add to our seasons display.
