Nursery Prepare for a Hedgehog Visit
This week, Nursery have continued their night and day topic and talked about animals that go to sleep in the winter. On Monday, the children returned back from play to discover a large, dark cave with some bears inside who happened to be fast asleep.
We read the story 'When Will it Be Spring ?' to find out why the bears were sleeping in the daytime. We talked about how it feels when we go outside at the moment and how we keep cosy and warm.
The children then used loose parts to make a large cosy nest for some of our soft toy woodland animals.
This week our maths focus has been on the number three. The children completed their challenge of the week, which was finding three leaves. They then used their three leaves to make a nest for the three bears and sorted the leaves and the bears from smallest to biggest.
Towards the end of the week, we read 'A New Home for Mouse' and went for a walk in the woods to discover some of the animal homes there. The children then worked together to make a Hedgehog home in our Nursery garden, providing a safe and warm space for any spikey visitors.
