Food at Hazlegrove
Great Stories Begin With Each Other...
Food and family sit together at Hazlegrove. We have our own in-house catering team who source the best ingredients in order to provide a nutritious and delicious range of food for the entire school community. From the Boarders’ Feast at Christmas, the regular delicious roast on a Thursday to the food celebrated for International Languages Day, the children experience a broad and varied range of tastes and textures every day.
Eating at Hazlegrove is about more than the delicious and nutritious meals, it is about sitting down together, talking about our day and enjoying great food and even better company.
Staff eat with the children and ensure that each child has a good variety of food on their plate. In the evenings, ‘Family Service’ ensures that children sit as families, siblings are together and the children serve from the table just as they would at home. All dietary requirements or allergies are very well catered for. Vegetarian options are always available and children following special diets on medical grounds can usually be catered for. Children are encouraged to drink water regularly throughout the day and children staying after 4.00pm have a snack of sandwiches and fruit before starting their after-school clubs and activities.
Getting food right in a boarding school is essential, but more so, it is the time spent with one another over a meal which lies at the heart of our approach.
