Year 1 Are Ready With Their Owl Facts
What have Year 1 been up to this week? Well, the children enjoyed gathering facts about nocturnal animals and using their knowledge to make top trumps cards.
We decided to make our own owl fact books and learnt to gather information from non-fiction books and make notes. The children learnt to use generalisers to start their sentences and included fabulous adjectives to write about these amazing birds. In maths, we loved learning about symmetry and tackled some problem-solving tasks as well as making symmetrical butterflies and investigating shapes with lines of symmetry. It’s always so heartwarming to watch the children talk about the all the different things they love about their friends and how they celebrate each other in Jigsaw. Our gingerbread men are coming along nicely with their clothes representing each lesson and celebrate all the differences about which we are learning.
