Admissions Process
Choosing the right school for your child is a difficult decision and it is our pleasure to help you through that process as much as possible, especially in these more challenging times. We hope that you will feel able to contact the Admissions Office regarding any queries that you may have along the way - no matter how small!
It is always a pleasure to welcome new families to Hazlegrove and we are pleased to say that we are very much open for families to visit on an individual basis. This can be via one of our Open Days or at any other time which is convenient for you. We have hand sanitising units throughout the School and would request visitors wear face-masks on site. Currently, parents are allowed on site for a tour by appointment only and we would ask you to call the Admissions Office on 01963 442 606 or email [email protected] . It will be a pleasure to see you.
Registration
You are invited to complete an on-line Registration Form and fee to the Admissions Office either by post or email. Please see our schedule of fees for the current rate. If you wish to pay this by bank transfer the school's bank details can be found by clicking here after which the Admissions Office would be delighted to make the necessary arrangements for your son or daughter to enjoy a Taster Day at the School.
Taster Sessions and Assessment
Taster Sessions are a wonderful way for your child to experience what their day will be like at Hazlegrove and we are lucky to have the space and facilities to be able to offer children the chance to come along and have safe interaction with their peer group or Tutor.
Pre-Prep:
Children for entry to the Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2 classes are invited to meet a member of the Pre-Prep staff and to join a Forest School session before a formal offer of a place is made. Children looking at Year 1 or 2 entry will have a short, informal assessment which acts as a snapshot of current learning levels.
Prep School:
Whilst we would normally offer a full taster day, this is currently not possible, however, we are pleased to suggest that families first visit the School and then your child returns for a short visit. During the visit, a short assessment will take place in order to provide the School with a ‘snap shot’ of current academic and there will be the chance to spend time with one of the Year group tutors.
Whilst restrictions are in place, our staff and current children have become experts at using technology in order to connect with children who are considering joining the School, usually via a Teams meeting to be introduced to staff and children.
Parents are invited to attend a feedback session with staff when they arrive to collect their child at the end of the Taster Day.
Pupils for whom English is a second language are asked to complete the UKiset examinations where necessary. An offer of a place will usually be made for pupils applying to join Year 1 to Year 8 following a taster day at the School or Skype appointment.
Early application is recommended
Places are limited and you may wish to complete an application form sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment, particularly for entry into the Prep School.
If your child is unable to visit Hazlegrove for a taster day or you would like a provisional offer prior to your child attending for a taster day, please contact the Head of Admissions (01963 442606) to discuss your application.
Accepting an offer of a place
Once the offer of a place has been made by the school, the place can be secured by completing the Acceptance Form, accepting the School’s Terms and Conditions as detailed in the Parent / School Contract.
An Acceptance Deposit is payable when accepting the offer of a place. This is held by the school and credited against the final payment of fees or other sums due to the school on leaving. See the Terms and Conditions for further details.
Additional Deposit is payable in addition to the Acceptance Deposit by the parents of pupils whose normal residence is outside of the United Kingdom. See the Terms and Conditions for further details.
Acceptance forms are sent with the letter offering a place and must be returned to the Admissions Office within the time limit specified. Forms received subsequently will still be considered, but where there are limited spaces in a year group we reserve the right to offer the place to another family.
Uniform
The school uniform shop is located on site and holds stock to cover the complete school uniform as well as other useful items. When fitting out a new pupil with a complete uniform parents are encouraged to make a personal appointment. A supply of good quality second hand uniform is sometimes available.
