Year 1 Meet a Special Owl Visitor
Year 1 are back from half term with a bang, exploring their new “Light and Dark” topic.
We started with an engaging lesson, in the dark listening to poems about the moon and nocturnal animals all by fairy light! We then had a fabulous visit from two gorgeous owls, Frank and Winston and we learnt all about how amazing owls are. We were able to ask lots of great questions, and we even got to hold, feed and stroke these soft birds. Mr Stok came in on Wednesday to give us a wonderful, hands-on opportunity to learn about “The Great War” and why soldiers are remembered on Remembrance Day. The children learnt a great deal about soldiers and animals in the war, made their own poppies and enjoyed handling artefacts. In maths, we have been consolidating bonds and addition and subtraction and in phonics we have been getting very good at understanding vowels and consonants. Our amazing pastel owl pictures are on display in the corridor. They are stunning!
