We want our pupils to grow and develop with a breadth of interests and experiences that will bring a richness and diversity to their lives and who they are. Much is achieved through our broad and challenging curriculum but there is so much more. Our wide-ranging club and activity programme allows pupils to pursue particular interests with passion and perseverance.
After-School
All academic lessons in the Prep School finish at 4pm. Day children are free to go home at this time or they are welcome to stay at school for afternoon break, to take part in one of the many clubs or activities and to do some prep.
The list of choices of activity is almost endless - activities change from term to term depending on the seasons and popularity of individual clubs.
Additionally, after enjoying a family style evening meal in the dining room, the boarders have a range of activities (incorporating music practice and prep for the Upper School) with special events on a regular basis.

Horse riding
Riding School Lessons
Children are taken via minibus to the local riding stables for riding lessons.
Pevelings is an approved Pony Club Centre and has two floodlit outdoor arenas allowing the children to ride throughout the year. The children are taught in groups according to their ability.
This club is open to all Prep School pupils (Years 3 - 8) and there may be a waiting list subject to demand. Lessons are charged at the prevailing rate according to the number of lessons received. Children need to have their own jodhpurs, riding boots and gloves, but hats can be hired if necessary. Body protectors are optional for flat work, but must be worn when jumping in the field or over 2' in the school.
Horse riding - own pony
Children with their own ponies who wish to be considered for representing the school in competition should make contact with Mrs Cobb. Teams regularly represent the school in disciplines such as Show Jumping, One Day Eventing and Arena Eventing.
Laser Pistol Shooting
This is a very popular club with the children and the school has achieved national success through competition.
Judo
Judo is taken in the sports hall by Finn Gleeson. Pupils are prepared for gradings and, where appropriate, they represent the school in IAPS competitions.
Speech and Drama
Take a look at our Music and Drama page for more information.
Tennis
In addition to the tennis available to all pupils as part of the curriculum in the Summer Term and as part of the after-school activity programme, specialist tennis coaching is available with our School tennis coach, Miss Parkin-Bowes.
The clubs time is split into two sessions, Junior clubs (Years 3 to 6) take place after break between 4.25pm and 5.05pm, whilst senior pupils are doing prep. Senior clubs (Years 7 and 8) take place between 5.10pm and 5.45pm and junior pupils have an opportunity to do prep.
This timetable allows children to be collected at 4pm, 5.05pm or at 5.50pm. There is also the flexibility for pupils to stay for tea with the boarders at 6pm and to be collected later if necessary - there is a small charge for this.
