Year 2 Investigate Magnets and Microhabitats

Year 2 Investigate Magnets and Microhabitats

Pre-Prep PrePrep

Summer has arrived and we have been out enjoying the sunny weather in the school grounds.

We all turned into research scientists to find the living conditions and spaces for minibeasts. The children had to be accurate in their descriptions, which caused many interesting discussions and the re-examining of some of the microhabitats that we were using. The children discovered a caterpillar that was living in the wrong microhabitat and had unfortunately drowned.

A new half term and a new topic - we have met a courageous young lady called Grace Darling who, with her father, William, rescued nine people from the wreck of the SS Forfarshire. A dramatic and heroic tale that has inspired the children to create their own detailed story maps and use speech marks to write a conversation between William and Grace on that stormy night.
