Longing for a White Christmas in Year 2
Some mysterious packages arrived in the Year 2 classrooms this week.
We enjoyed exploring the contents of some World War One care packages that were sent to soldiers who needed some home comforts to keep morale high during harsh winters at war. Inspired by these, the children then wrote about all the items they would include in a care package to their loved ones on the front line.
The children also enjoyed using their knowledge of the Five Pillars of Islam to create beautiful mobiles using the Islamic symbol of the crescent moon and star to display proudly in our classrooms.
We also got in the Christmas spirit early as we created some fantastic snow globes in our Art lesson. The light dusting of cotton wool across our winter scenes had our hearts longing for a white Christmas.
