Festive Adventures and Activities for Our Boarders Over the Weekend
The day started in the usual fashion with a fabulous full English breakfast with sausages, bacon, black pudding, and hash browns, which really set the tone for what was to be a lovely day.
The weather was not the glorious sunshine we had ordered, but nothing could dampen the spirits of this boarding community.
A quick turnaround from breakfast and the juniors boarded the minibuses. They were off to Sherborne Castle Gardens and the fabulous Christmas display. With pocket money burning holes in all of their pockets, they shot off around the displays, a winter wonderland with a variety of fun displays, singing penguins, talking reindeer, and a marvellous train track. I hope you all enjoy the myriad of Christmas gifts that you will receive from your generous children.
The seniors stayed put for an epic Nerf war in the sports hall. With barricades made and hundreds of bullets, no quarter was given as we battled it out. It was interesting to see a variety of tactics from hiding and hoping to full kamikaze efforts. Most importantly, a great deal of fun was had, especially by myself and Mr Matthews.
A lovely lunch, a thoughtful chapel, and a bit of rest and reading got us ready for an afternoon of craft, painting, swimming, and a Christmas film. The lovely Lizzie joined us from ‘Potdoodles’ to do a Christmas pottery painting session (Again, I hope you all enjoy your gifts). Mrs Wells-Burr led some Christmas craft and Christmas film watching in the common room while those with lots of energy hit the pool for a free swim. If that wasn’t enough, Mrs Benbow was cooking up a storm in food tech, biscuits and cupcakes galore.
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. It is always a delight spending time with your children, and I am always so impressed with the way they throw themselves into every opportunity. Now, the exciting wait for the Christmas feast begins!
