A Party and Christmas Preparation in Nursery
It has been a very busy week in the Dragonfly room as we have celebrated builders and mechanics.
The Dragonflies have immersed themselves in the role play construction yard by creating homes for the animals, garages with various compartments and houses big enough for them to fit in! The children have taken upon the role of a builder this week by also drawing their own blueprint for their fantasy islands, these included marshmallow trees, coca cola pools and pinecone clouds. The Dragonflies had an exciting visit to see Hazlegrove’s vehicles! The children had the opportunity to see the tractors, lawn mowers and various machinery up close. This inspired the children to create various buildings and vehicles from the junk modelling box using a range of joining techniques. To add to our week, we had an educational visit from the dentist and learnt about the importance of brushing our teeth. All of Nursery had the opportunity to explore the dental equipment and even dress up as a dentist!
It has been a week of celebrations in the Ladybird and Butterfly classroom. We began the week with the children sharing photos of a time they celebrated an event, from Coronation, to winning medals and to weddings, there was lots to talk about. We then began to plan our own celebration and the children thought about things we would need to do this. They have been busy creating celebration crowns, cards, and invitations and most importantly, some delicious treats! At the end of the week, all the children arrived with their chosen party outfit, and we had a wonderful morning dancing and playing party games.
The children have also been exploring the story of Zog this week, coming up with their own potions to make the sick animals and adults in the classroom, well again. During Forest School, we decided it was time for a clear up since the ground was covered in leaves. The children carefully used a saw for the first time to make their very own broomsticks. This required some strength and determination, but the children were visibly proud when they succeeded. The woods are now looking much tidier after all that sweeping.
The classroom has been a hive of exciting creativity which we are looking forward to continuing, as our Christmas preparations begin!
