Year 2 are Ready to Tell You the History of Bonfire Night.
The damp weather has not dampened our excitement for Bonfire night and Guy Fawkes activities this week!
Transporting the children back to 1605 and the court of King James 1, they have travelled through that fateful week in history finding out about the catholic plotters led by Robert Catesby. Many questions have been answered and the children have enjoyed exploring this period of history. Many now realise it was King James who insisted that we celebrate the plotters' failure by burning a guy and having fireworks. A visit from Mr Stok is always a treat for the Pre-Prep and Year 2 loved his visit on Wednesday. It was so valuable to have a hands-on history lesson. The array of artefacts Mr Stok brought in for the children really inspired them and developed their understanding of a famous historical event. Giving the children this perspective encourages them to think of the people involved in these situations and why we remember them.
