Year 1 Have Had a Hoot This Week!
The children in Year 1 have come back with a “bang” and a “burning” desire to learn and enjoy their lessons.
Their teachers have been “blown” away! We love our light and dark topic especially learning all about how magical it can be at night. We read an amazing poem about the moon and enjoyed thinking of all the incredible creatures that come out at night and practised our alphabetical ordering of names. We decided we wanted to find out more about owls and wrote out some of our questions. Our luck continued when some amazing feathery friends flew in to visit on Wednesday with Alan from Pitcombe falconry. Clover, Hector, Eddie and Winston lit up our week with their beautiful soft feathers and silent wings. We also learnt more about what Remembrance Day means from our amazing afternoon with Mr Stok as we handled objects from the Great War.
Our learning did not stop there as we practised our addition skills and number sentence writing in our books, learnt about the weather and of course, built a Guy for Bonfire night on Friday! What a fabulously busy and happy week in Year 1!
