Stool Ball for Our Boarders at the Weekend
After our traditional full English breakfast to start the day, we made our way up to King’s Bruton, to join in the parade through the streets of Bruton for Remembrance Sunday. The parade ended outside St. Mary’s Church, where a moving and poignant service was held to honour the memory of those who gave their lives.
Returning to HZG, the children donned their mufti, and made their way to the Bastion – our all-weather pitch, to play a massive game of Stool Ball. It was a tightly contested game, filled with lots of shrieking and cheers! (For those interested in the result, it was a draw!) Lunch was next, followed by rest and reading in the Houses, and then a spot of letter writing.
The afternoon was spent enjoying activities around the school: sewing, art, basketball, and Minecraft construction. A warm cup of hot chocolate and popcorn filled the gap, before heading off to our three Common Rooms to watch movies. A delicious roast supper finished off what can easily be described as a “typical” day in the life of a HZG boarder – good food, great company, and enjoyable activities.
