Reception have investigated all things shoes this week!
The clippity clop of high heels and Thump! Thump! of boots could be heard from the Reception class this week.
Linked to our focus story ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’, the children have enjoyed spending money and giving change in our class shoe shop. In maths, we have been measuring and comparing our feet, using cubes and learning the importance of measuring accurately. After designing their own magical shoes, the children wrote descriptions of what they could do. Would you like rainbow shoes that could fly? Or perhaps some colour changing skates? We thought about our wider community when we played ‘Whose shoes?’ where the children were able to try on waders, army boots, ski boots and ballet point shoes, to name a few. A super communication and language opportunity to develop asking questions about who might wear them or where they might be worn. In art, we have been thinking of the foods and people we are thankful for at this time of year, and the children have made some spectacular headdresses ahead of our assembly next week. We cannot wait to show you!
