Drawing self-portraits in nursery this week
Our first full week in Nursery has been full of activities to begin our ‘All about me’ topic.
The Dragonflies have drawn some great self-portraits and have had the opportunity to explore a range of homes to find some similarities and differences to their own. We had some great builders in Nursery this week as the Dragonflies built their own homes from wooden blocks, adding specific features, such as gates, garages, and chimneys. The number 1 has also been a focus this week and inspired the children to create their own ‘One Wonderful World’.
The Ladybirds have kickstarted their 'All about me' topic. They have been learning body part names through dance and movement and creating self-portraits using a range of media. We looked at the story 'You choose' where the children expressed their favourite things, leading on to conversations about their homelives. Lastly, we have been expanding on the children's interest in dinosaurs, we have been looking at different body parts of the dinosaurs and talking about each species' characteristics. We read 'Ten Little Dinosaurs' and the children practiced their counting to ten.
