The smell of woodsmoke permeated the classroom on Wednesday as the children returned from their adventures in Forest school.  The opportunity to sit with your friends around the campfire, sharing food and drinking hot chocolate is possibly the very best way to spend a morning!

On Friday, the children bounced into class, bursting with excitement over the visitor that was due in that morning! Derek, the miniature Shetland pony came to school and the children had the opportunity to ride him and to learn about how to care for ponies. Dr Walter taught the children how to groom him and how to check his feet for stones. It was a truly wonderful morning and an amazing experience for the children. Mrs Sheldon and Mrs Manchorova were disappointed that they were just a bit too big to have a ride.

It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of our first half term. The children have loved our animal topic and were excited to release the frogs back into the pond on Tuesday.  The amazing books they have written, alongside their Eric Carle inspired collages and some fantastic life cycle diagrams adorn the displays. Next term we are travelling further afield, to Australia… we cannot wait!
