Toads Covered in Warts and Slime Could be Seen In Year 1 This Week
“We’re the ugly five, we’re the ugly five!” was a song that could be heard from the Year 1 classroom this week.
However, it was not a song about the children or the teachers… Year 1 were learning about five new characters found primarily in Africa, this time the ugliest of their kind. Inspired by the Julia Donaldson book “The ugly five”, we innovated a sixth member to join the gang. From toads covered in warts and slime to hyenas with their filthy fur, we had quite the range! In keeping on the animal theme, we learnt about life cycles in our science lessons. The children were fascinated when learning that life can go full circle for so many animals. Ask any of Year 1 about the life cycle of a frog, butterfly or crocodile and they’ll be sure to tell you all about it!
