Year 1 Have Been Busy With Numbers and Non Fiction Writing
Returning back to school after a long weekend of celebrations, we took a moment to admire our coronation banner that we produced last week in Year 1. Then, as always, we were ready to hit the ground running and see what this week had in store.
Continuing to practise our non-fiction writing, we spent the week learning all about Africa’s Big Five. Selecting one animal each, Year 1 created their own non-fiction information booklet, featuring information about habitat, diet and even a character description.
Our art lessons saw us having a go at weaving beautiful Africa mats, brightly coloured and decorated with Maasai patterns.
We also spent the time revisiting our number bonds and pairs. Really solidifying our knowledge of bonds to 10 and starting to have a go at beyond, working with numbers up to 20!!
