Year 2 Learn About Life in The Trenches During World War I
Life in the trenches has been carefully thought about by the children in Year 2.
They have imagined what it would be like to live in those dirty, smelly places missing the comforts of home. The children developed their creative writing skills, describing the life of a World War I soldier living in those conditions. The children also opened a care package, just like one sent to the fighting soldiers. Some of the objects inside were familiar but no one wanted the white hard biscuits for their snack! The children then created their own care package describing in detail the objects they thought the soldiers would like to receive, lots of hand-knitted socks were high on the list.
The Year 2 children have all shown great compassion and kindness this week showing a growing understanding of treating their fellow human beings with understanding.
