Reception Has Enjoyed An Autumnal Themed Week
Our Autumn walk on a chilly Monday morning filled the children with a true sense of how the season impacts on both the flora and fauna around us at school.
The children collected leaves of many colours and enjoyed watching the squirrels busy burying their nut collection for the Winter. It prompted discussions on hibernation and how the trees and bushes dispersed their seeds. In the classroom, we have enjoyed the beautifully illustrated story of ‘Leaf Man’ by Elois Ehlert. This inspired the children to create amazing pictures of animals using leaves and to write descriptive sentences of the beautiful places he travelled to, blown by the Autumn wind. Friday was filled with Firework excitement, and it was wonderful to see the children working together to create our amazing guy.
