Let's Grow with the Reception Class
Our topic this half term has been 'Lets Grow’. We began by looking at pictures of ourselves when we were babies, compared them with pictures of us now and then they thought about what we would like to be good at when we are 10 years old and what we might like to do when we are grown up.
It has been fun helping to bottle feed the billy goat kids and lovely to watch them skip and play in their run when we have playtime.
We have also thought about what is needed for plants to grow. Outside we have planted peas and beans. The strawberries plants in our garden now have lots of flowers on them so we are hoping for a good crop of strawberries.
We thought about all the creatures that we knew that hatch from eggs and recorded our ideas in pictures, then we cracked open a hens egg to see what was inside.
We have learnt about the life cycles of frogs and butterflies. We learnt how frogs lay eggs called frogspawn. How the frogspawn becomes tadpoles and then little frogs as they grow up. We made ponds to show their life cycle.
We have enjoyed using flour and water to create beautiful batik pictures of butterflies.
