Boarders explore the wonders of Stourhead
A glorious English summer’s weekend made this a fantastic weekend for the boarding community.
After matches, free time, a barbeque and films on Saturday, we woke to another sunny Sunday. There was a wonderful atmosphere around school in the morning with pockets of children playing cricket, or rounders, or building dens in the woods.
Following a quick lunch most of the boys participated in a football tournament for charity organised by the children themselves while the rest went on a trip to Stourhead, the local National Trust property. Stourhead is at its best this time of year and while the adults seemed to appreciate the beautiful grounds for the sake of the stunning flora, the children loved the grottos and various buildings dotted around the grounds. We popped into the house too and marvelled at the splendour of such a magnificent home. The huge library was a popular favourite.
After three hours of walking and exploring we were all rewarded with an ice cream and then it was back to school to cheer on the boys and then swap stories of a great day over a well-earned tea.
