Back to Nursery with Big Smiles
After a lovely Easter break, the Dragonflies came back into Nursery with big smiles on their faces!
To begin the summer term, the children had the opportunity to share their holiday news during circle time. The children listened to their friends and took turns sharing their news while also asking their peers questions about their holiday. This week, the Dragonflies began reading ‘The Night Pirates’ to start the topic for this term, ‘Adventures Above and Below’. The Dragonflies went digging for treasure and created telescopes to look out for pirates who might like to steal their golden coins.
During gymnastics, the Dragonflies developed their balancing skills, while also their throwing and catching skills with a range of different sized balls! The children also enjoyed their first swim of the summer term and are now developing a range of skills to work towards their first swimming badge. We are all looking forward to the fun adventures we will be having this summer term!
It has been wonderful to welcome the Butterflies and Ladybird's back into Nursery this week. They have all returned a little taller and a little more confident. We have had a fun start to the week, beginning our topic on Space. The children have been fully engrossed, sharing their knowledge of what they already know and thinking about what they would like to find out next.
We have already seen the children designing some amazing planets, aliens and night sky scene pictures using paint, oil pastels and recycling.
The children are incredibly creative, and we have loved listening to their stories whilst playing in our space small world tray and their various dance movements when listening to Holst's Planet songs. We can't wait to begin finding out more details on Planets and the moon next week!
