Year 2 Have Exercised Their Mathematical Muscles and Their Running Muscles
This week we have learnt about the life of Samuel Pepys.
A very important eyewitness who lived through some of the biggest events in history during 1666. Through his writings in his diary, we know Samuel lived through the Plague (1665) and he was in living in Seething Lane, London during the Great Fire (1666). The children were fascinated to learn that he wrote the whole of his diary in a special code, which took years for someone to decipher! He loved to record all sorts of details, from weather, the fire, and a new watch he had with an alarm. They also loved the fact that he wore a wig as did many gentlemen of the time. Our mathematical muscles have also been exercising. We have used our rounding knowledge, using number squares to extend our computational skills. Our muscles have definitely grown. We have all loved being wrapped up in our many layers, so we were able to enjoy our playtimes, it’s amazing how a fleece under the coat makes playtimes fun. Please could all the children bring hats and gloves into school even with the temperatures rising, we need these items for forest school.
