This week the Dragonflies have been focusing on the story of Cinderella.

The children began the week practicing their careful counting, using cubes to measure Cinderella’s shoes. They then found out whose shoe was the biggest and the smallest. Later in the week, the story turned into 'Spinderella'. The children have been investigating spiders and created some wonderful fact files, using their sound knowledge to make some labels, describing all the different parts of a spider.

The Ladybirds and Butterflies have been finding out about penguins. We began the week with a special delivery from the South Pole. The penguin from the story ‘Lost and Found’ had made its way to Hazlegrove! The children thought of ways to keep the penguin safe, building some cosy igloos and constructing some boats to help the penguin find his way back to the South Pole safely.

Later in the week, the children created their own penguins and thought about what they would do with the penguin if it came to visit their home.

They have also enjoyed rescuing frozen penguins from ice, making marks with ice skating penguins and creating some sparkly winter wonderland pictures using forks and paint.
