A Busy and Exciting Week for Our Children in Pre-Prep
It has been another exciting week of activity this week in Pre-Prep.
We kickstarted the week by welcoming our Nursery Grandparents into school to share Diwali crafts and stories together. Year 2 had an interesting morning at St Barnabas Church where they learned all about the features of the church and why it is important to Christians. The children heard the awe-inspiring organ, saw teddy being christened and even had a go at ringing the bell. On Wednesday, our Ladybirds and Butterflies headed to Wilde Forest School where they explored the magical outdoors and enjoyed all the engaging activities on offer. We rounded off the week wearing spots to raise money for Children in Need before our Pre-Prep musicians treated us to a musical delight of songs and a variety of musical instruments. I am always so proud of our children in these concerts; seeing them perform with courage, confidence, and clarity, but mostly seeing them beam with pride when they have performed! Thank you to those who were able to attend and encourage the children with your warm smiles and glorious applause!
Next week, Year 2 are visiting Exeter Mosque to compare places of worship and develop their knowledge and understanding of Islam, developing our school value of respect. Reception will also visit Wells Cathedral to learn about the cathedral and familiarise themselves with the space prior to our performance at our Christmas Carol Concert on Thursday 14 December. Just a reminder, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will all be performing in this magical service and it is still part of the school term for these children, so we hope to see them all there.
A huge thank you again to The Friends of Hazlegrove for their incredible Fireworks Display last week – it was an absolutely stunning display of light and the children have been excitedly talking about it all week! The Friends were immediately back to work on Monday finalising plans for our Pre-Prep Christmas Fair on Friday 1 December and the amazing inaugural Friends of Hazlegrove Christmas Fair on Saturday 9 December. Thank you so much to the Friends for their support and hard work in raising funds for charity and towards a new Pre-Prep fort.
Finally, just a gentle reminder that the school day starts at 8.30am and the blue gate will be open between 8.00-8.35am. It is important for you child/ren that they are here on time in order to have a smooth, settled start to the day and to not miss any learning. We recognise that there are one-off delays that cannot be helped but being on time helps your child to start their school day on the right foot and in the correct mindset.
Wishing you a lovely weekend!
Best wishes,
Hannah Strugnell
