A wonderful start to this Half of Term in Pre-Prep
Welcome to our exciting second half of the Autumn term!
It is always so wonderful to see the children again – they all look like they have grown in just two weeks – and we are very proud of how quickly and happily they have settled back into school life.
This term is such an exciting one, but a very busy one too! Already this week we have welcomed visitors into school to immerse us in our learning, with Clover the Indian Scops owl, Hector the Tawny owl, Eddie the Tropical Screech owl and Winston the Barn owl joining Year 1 to extend their knowledge of owls before writing about them and Mr Stok joining Years 1 and 2 to develop their understanding of why Remembrance Day is such an important day. This year, the Pre-Prep was represented by Theo (Reception), Alice (Year 1) and Charlie (Year 2) who laid poppies in memory of people who have lost their lives in war. We are also so proud of Mrs Cox who read the emotive ‘In Flanders Field’ so beautifully in our whole school Act of Remembrance on Thursday. We give thanks to all the service men, women and animals who risk their lives for the safety of others.
The boys and girls worked collaboratively together across the Pre-Prep to build our ‘PP1’ Space Rocket Guy ready to blast off this evening at The Friends of Hazlegrove Fireworks Night. Huge thanks to the Friends of Hazlegrove for all their time and hard work that has gone into organising our magnificent Hazlegrove Fireworks Display – it is always such a magical evening!
Next week, we welcome Nursery Grandparents in on Monday morning for a crafty tea party, Year 2 will be visiting St Barnabus Church, our Ladybirds and Butterflies will be visiting Wilde Forest School before we all raise money for Children in Need next Friday wearing mufti again (more details to follow).
I hope you have a ‘blast’ at tonight’s Firework Display and look forward to seeing you on Monday.
With best wishes,
Hannah
