Poetry and Prizes for Year 1 this week

This week in Year 1 we enjoyed turning our focus to poetry within English.

Our poetry topic focussed on sea creatures, and we explored a range of different types of poems, from haikus, rhyming, cinquain and shape poems. We even having a go at writing some of our own - diving dolphins and ferocious sharks were some favourites. In maths we revisited one of our favourite topics – time, learning how to read both analogue and digital clocks to quarter past and quarter too. However, we cannot ignore the most exciting day of the whole week, sports day and prize giving which was a great success. The Year 1 children enjoyed putting their hard-earned practice into play and it was a wonderful afternoon for all.
