The children loved using “big” numbers and learning all about Grace Darling.
A wonderful week back in the sunshine after half term has been full of fun and discovering the adventures of a daring young lady called Grace Darling.
Fabulously detailed story paths were created by the children and they developed vibrant, visual accounts of the key events from that night off the Farne Islands in 1838. After discovering so much about Grace and her family, we discussed ‘Was Grace a hero/heroine?’ and ‘What makes you famous?’, which led to a long discussion with lots of examples given by the children connected to both titles.
The sunny weather has also helped us develop our place value knowledge in maths lessons. The children loved using “big” numbers happily working beyond 100 and up to 1000. Some of us now feel confident enough to move beyond 1000. It was lovely to see the children all feeling so positive and keen on doing their maths tasks ready for the challenges they will face in the future.
