Our very own caterpillars!
To start our new topic of ‘All Creatures Great and small’ the Reception children were very excited to meet some new members of the classes on Friday morning.
Our very own caterpillars! They are growing fast, and we cannot wait to follow them on their life cycle journey, releasing them later in the term over the butterfly friendly flowers that grow in our wildflower meadow. The children are also keeping a close eye on our tadpoles and have been thrilled to observe some back legs emerging already this week! Real and imagined animals will inspire the children’s cross curricular learning activities throughout this term, with work on pets, minibeasts and farm animals. We will also travel further afield and look at different habitats across the world and the huge variety of animals that live there.
We will of course be making the most of this amazing weather and adventuring out and about as much as possible to observe and learn about the mammals, insects and birds in our beautiful grounds too.
