'House And Home' Topic continues for Year 1 this week!
Bringing together our number work from this term, Year 1 enjoyed applying their knowledge to solve new number sentences, looking at how we can use doubles and near doubles to calculate answers and even following systematic pattern to add and subtract - well done Year 1!
When in English, our exploration of ‘That Pesky Rat’ continued, except this time, it was down to the children to determine his fate.
Year 1 innovated an alternative ending to the story, leaving behind the revolting rotten dustbin number 3 to move in with his new owners from grandmothers to caravan drivers to even buddying up with some other animals. That Pesky Rat’s new life in his posh house and a tropical island made us all feel much better about how we found him last week with his plea for help.
It wasn’t just writing about houses that we explored this week, developing our illustrations of our houses within Art lessons, we had a go at recreating our houses in the medium of a lino print. A wonderful week of learning new skills!
