Lots of fun for Year 1!
If you found yourself stranded on the moon with a Martian whose ship has broken down, what would you do?
Inspired by The Oliver Jeffers book ‘The Way Back Home’ , the children in Year 1 knew just the answer. Fixing the tubes, climbing down on ropes, and using some emergency petrol were some of the methods innovated. Whilst we were able to put some of these ideas to the test, our science lesson saw us making parachutes out of varying materials to find out just which one would bring us safest to land. Something the children found very useful when thinking about finding their own way back home.
Our biggest treat of the week, however, had to be our visit from the explorer dome. The perfect conclusion to our space topic as we bought together all our knowledge and looked up into the stars above.
