Pre-Prep Celebrate Festival of Drama and Dance
The Pre-Prep children had a jam-packed week celebrating all things Drama and Dance.
The whole of Hazlegrove from Nursery to Year 8 had a brilliant Festival of Drama and Dance. The Pre-Prep children, in particular, took part in lots of activities, lessons and workshops to celebrate the performing arts.
Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2 had dedicated Forest School lessons surrounding fairy tales and story telling including a lovely picnic lunch outdoors in the woods. The boys took part in exciting dance workshops with Miss Bell whilst the girls did some impromptu street dancing with Mrs Sheldon and Miss Morton. There was also a danceathon day where the children took turns, in their year groups, to dance around in the decorated squash court turned disco room. The children relished showing off their best moves!
Wednesday saw our extra special Mad Hatter's Tea Party in which the children dressed up in their best Alice in Wonderland attire to join in with a lovely day of activities. The Year 1 children were the special guests at the Year 6 Tea Party where all enjoyed biscuits and cakes as well as some brilliant entertainment from Year 6. Later on, the Pre-Prep took part in their own tea party with lemonade and cupcakes followed by some Alice in Wonderland themed games.
On Thursday, Hinduism Education Services visited with a captivating workshop all about Hinduism. Combining stories, dressing up and traditional dancing, the children were completely immersed in the new culture and all took home a clay diva as a memento.
Friday was our last day of the festival and we finished with a groovy Rio Carnival and Latin Dance workshop. Year 1 and 2 imagined themselves in the Brazilian carnival, learning about the sights and sounds as well as an impressive samba dance.
It was a great week and we hope the children feel inspired to keep acting and dancing!
