Year 2 Learn More with Mr Stok
Year 2 had a hugely busy day on Wednesday learning more about The Great Fire of London.
We welcomed Mr Stok back to the Pre-Prep to look at artefacts from the Great Fire and to think more about the people involved. The children looked at a selection of artefacts from plates and cutlery stolen by thieves during the fire to the contraptions used by the soldiers when arresting the thieves to stop them running away! Next Year 2 took turns to unwrap fire helmets through the ages, comparing a helmet worn by a firefighter in the Great Fire compared to one used in the modern day.
Later Year 2 headed outside for a chance to be fire fighters. The children were split into two teams. First up in the lines had to run to the end of the hose whilst second started to the pump the water. The children had to direct the water into a large bucket before Mr Stok shouted change and the next children had a go. The game was played twice and both times was a close call as to which team had aimed more water into their bucket.
A fun and interactive morning with Mr Stok really brought history to life.
