Year 1 learn about tortoises

The children were delighted to have the opportunity to meet and handle some real tortoises when Jemima Millard in Year 2 kindly brought her two pet tortoises, Rocky and Shelley, into school.
These tortoises are only eleven years old and were both lively and entertaining! The children learned so much by being able to observe these fascinating creatures close up and were keen to ask questions about their diet and habits. We were all curious to know why Shelley and Rocky were not hibernating in the middle of winter!
