A Colourful Week for Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have begun our topic of ‘Our Colourful World’ The children have all created their own self-portraits and we discussed our differences and similarities.
They did an excellent job of recognising their hair and eye colour when looking in a mirror and then representing this by sticking craft materials onto their paper plate faces.
Throughout the week, we have been focusing on the ‘Colour Monster’ the children have already shown an understanding of emotions, and we have been proud to see them handing the correct colour monsters to friends who are feeling sad, happy or angry. Everyone made their own colour monster to represent how they were feeling, and some could even tell us why they were feeling a certain way.
Towards the end of the week, the children became ‘Rainbow Hunters’ and we explored the school grounds looking for the colours of the rainbow and sticking them to colour charts. In the classroom the children practiced their scissor skills to create their own rainbows and on Friday they joined in with a science experiment to create a rainbow using foam and coloured water. The children were amazed and we finished with some beautiful singing of 'I can sing a rainbow'.
