Sunny the Meerkat Visits Year 1

A week themed around climate and habitats. But first, a visitor arrived in Year 1 on Monday on a holiday from a very hot Kalahari Dessert to a much cooler Hazlegrove school, his name was Sunny the meerkat.

Like the good hosts we are, we took Sunny for a tour around the school showing him our favourite places, from the dining hall to the swimming pool before helping him write a postcard back to his family. In science, we explored woodlice and their habitat, exploring what makes a good home for woodlouse and other minibeasts, linking nicely to our topic lesson and thinking about the climate in Kenya and how it might differ from our own. Another super week using our scientific minds!
