Atlases and Animals

Atlases and Animals

PrePrep Pre-Prep

Brighter days and lots of refreshed smiling faces were welcomed back into 1J and 1W this week with a couple of new welcome additions.

After sharing our wonderful Easter breaks with each other we were ready to hit the ground running for our final term as Year 1s! An introduction to our new topic, Africa had us exploring atlases for the first time to see if we could locate Africa on the map. This set us up nicely to begin exploring some of the animals we might come across in Africa and what it means to be endangered. We mind mapped what is meant by endangered and how we could help. We then applied this knowledge of animals to create our own Savannah sunset and silhouette artwork. What a wonderful week!
