This week, we have been learning about Hannukah in assembly and in class. The children made links to other special religious festivals and enjoyed discovering how the Jewish community celebrate.
We had great fun learning about the menorah through craft and painting, and the importance of the ninth candle which shares it’s light with the other eight. We thought about the importance of light in dark times, literally but also metaphorically, and had a moment to reflect on how we could spread our light to others. The children thought of kind ways they could share their light including sharing a smile, helping others, saying kind words and giving someone a hug.
I hope you all receive and enjoy sharing your own light and love during the holidays and we look forward to seeing the children, refreshed and ready for the new term ahead, on Wednesday 11 January. We are incredibly proud of your children and all they have achieved this term and wish them a well-deserved rest.
