Year 1 Enjoyed Their Light and Dark Themed Week
Looking for some light in the dark (er days) this week, Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the history of light in our topic lesson about the age-old transition of fire to light bulb.
We created our own light-themed timelines and were able to understand just how important light has been throughout history. Linking our ongoing learning about various festivals of light stemming from Diwali to looking at how nocturnal animals can see without light. In English, our exploration of nocturnal animals has developed by starting our week creating top trumps for various animals. Categorising them by their speed, night vision and fierceness to creating our very own Owl information book. Whilst in Maths we progressed from symmetrical patterns to understand the characteristics that separate a 2D shape from a 3D shape, as we have been learning and naming circles to spheres, squares to cuboids. Another brilliant week!
