Celebrating the Queen's 90 birthday in style...
Balloons and flags were out on the Hazlegrove front lawn when everyone gathered at 12.45pm today for a special lunch to celebrate the Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday. There was a giant “90” and even the Queen was in attendance in the form of a life-size figure! Children had been invited to make hats and there were some fabulous creations on display.
Proceedings were started by the Headmaster proposing the toast to the Queen followed by three cheers to Her Majesty. We all then sung the National Anthem ably accompanied by the brass band before tucking into a picnic lunch which included cucumber sandwiches, strawberries and cream, fairy cakes and lashings of ginger beer.
The band rounded off the lunch with a brilliant rendition of The Prince of Denmark before the children headed off. Meanwhile the cake competition is being judged and we await the results with eager anticipation… there are some truly amazing creations!
