Reception Enjoy a Walk in Crunchy Leaves
Our week in Reception has been filled with all things related to Harvest and Autumn (and a huge amount of rain!).
The children were incredible in our Harvest celebration on Thursday, and we were so proud of their confidence and enthusiasm! An Autumn walk on a chilly Thursday morning filled the children with a true sense of how the season impacts both the flora and fauna around us at school. The children collected leaves of many colours and enjoyed watching the squirrels busy burying the nuts for the Winter. It prompted discussions on hibernation and how the trees and bushes dispersed their seeds. In the classroom, we have been enjoying the beautifully illustrated story of ‘Leaf Man’ by Elois Ehlert. This has inspired the children to create amazing pictures of animals using leaves and to write descriptive sentences of the beautiful places he travelled to, blown by the Autumn wind.
