Blackberry picking and a fantastic trip to Burton Bradstock
The usual delicious fry-up started Sunday off rather brilliantly. Then it was off to a thought provoking chapel from Mr Beverley. Thanks to Mr Birch for his piano playing too.
Sandwiches were made and we piled onto the coach and set off for Burton Bradstock. Despite a promising weather forecast there were a few ominous clouds about but we were not demoralised. As we jumped off the bus a blast of wind hit us from the sea and made us think that we had been rather optimistic. Everyone immediately layered up with coats, jumpers and hats and we set up base on the beach. It was actually not too cold at all and the wind was quite warm. Many children immediately piled into the sea and some enthusiastic paddling and wave jumping took place. Inevitable soakings and clothes changing followed; the prize for the most soaked definitely would have gone Dino's way. Kite flying was almost too successful - Gracie's kite flew off and had to be rescued and then got tangled up with Issy's! After lunch there was more paddling and some enthusiastic digging and burying - Freddie HH in particular and Jaime as well. The art competition was popular: Findlay and Alfie built a wall, Tilda and Mima made a turtle and duck (helped by finding a stone in the precise shape of a duck's head!), Tony and Alfonso wrote a vertical 'Hazlegrove', Imogen, Alice S, Alice R and Izzy made a very cool fairy garden but the winners were Emily, Gracie and Issy's very detailed mermaid. Ball games were enjoyed and some brave people paddled again. Tilly got drenched!
Then it was time to get back on the bus. After a snack, the wind-swept boarders regrouped to write their letters. Lots to write home about and then it was into the dining room for a delicious roast supper. I'm sure everyone slept well! What a super day.
Mrs Robertson.
