A Fabulous Start for Our Boarders In Weekend
The boarders woke up to a clear blue sky and glorious sunshine; the perfect start to a Summer term in-weekend.
The day kicked off with the boarders gathering for a hearty full English breakfast, fuelling up for the busy day ahead. Spirits were high as they made their way into chapel, where Mr Shaw led a fantastic interactive service which had a powerful message about how we can all be closer to God. Post-service, the boarders headed straight to letter writing, penning letters to their family and friends. Anticipation and excitement began to rise as the boarders knew it was time for the morning activities. There was an array of exhilarating pursuits to choose from: a bouncy inflatable assault course, the cool embrace of the swimming pool, a wild bike safari, speedy go-karts, fantastic face painting and the chance to be out and about. The highlight for the boarders had to be tree climbing with the Great Tree Climbing Company which provided an opportunity to harness up and climb the cedar tree - an activity not for the faint hearted!
Lunchtime, reading and rest offered a pause and a chance for the boarders to sprawl out on the lower school lawn, delve into their books and enjoy the dazzling sunshine. The afternoon heralded a second round of activities. From a strategic game of capture the flag, the children scaled heights again with more tree climbing, crafted secret hideaways during den building in the woods, swung bats in cricket, and laughed through various garden games. As the activities mellowed, the boarders were delighted by the arrival of an ice cream van, a treat that preceded their leisure time on the field. Overall, it was a fantastic weekend and a brilliant start to what promises to be a fun-filled Summer term of boarding.
