Celebrating Burns Night With Our Boarders
Hazlegrove boarders had a great time celebrating Burns Night.
Our new bagpiper, Dom played so well and really added a very authentic Scottish feel to the evening. So much fun and laughter was had by all. A big thanks need to go to Mr and Mrs Benbow for organising the whole evening and dressing up in their best Scottish regalia!!
We started the evening off by saying the Selkirk Grace expertly delivered by Mrs Benbow. Once we had all settled down, Chef Lottie had the enviable task of addressing the Haggis to the sound of bagpipes and cheering in the background. No Burns Evening would be complete without a bit of poetry and Mr Benbow did not disappoint. He read an extract from a Robert Burns poem, whilst the youngest member from each table stabbed their Haggis with great glee and gusto. I must say his Scottish accent was excellent.
Once the festivities were over, we all ate Haggis and drank Iron Bru and the children loved all!
A great evening! Many thanks must also go to our fabulous catering department for producing such a delicious Scottish delicacy for us all to enjoy.
