A Very Creative Weekend for Our Boarders
With the Great British Make Off ready to go, the Hazlegrove boarders were in for a weekend treat.
We had the usual staples that make a great Sunday; a lie-in, Full English, mega roast and a thought-provoking chapel were all present and correct but this Sunday had a slightly competitive twist.
A whole plethora of creative and intriguing challenges awaited the boarders including nail art, spray paint stencils, den-making, Lego building and baking to name but a few. Mrs Johnson and Mrs Matthews could be seen enjoying the pop-up nail bar at the hands of the children. They were willing guinea pigs or (sacrificial lambs!) to Lizzie and Victoire’s talents!
Mrs Sclater was cooking up a storm in the food tech room where the children made cupcakes from scratch before decorating them in the afternoon. In the woods, Mr Froggatt encouraged the Bear Grylls amongst the boarders to create the most superb dens, complete with lookout points, ivy doors and pet snails! In the art room, Mr Baker let the children loose with the spray paints and stencils, to create some wonderful original art. Lego building was also on the menu with Charlie creating an epic bat-mobile inspired car.
The children all had the choice to enjoy the activities just for fun or to put forward something they had made into one of the categories being judged.
Running alongside all of these activities and building to the crescendo of the day was the hotly contested knock-out Mario Kart tournament. Some extremely tight matches led us to our four finalists who then competed for the top prize in front of the whole boarding community, on the big screen in the theatre. Noah and Josh managed to hold their nerves, proving victorious! A cracking weekend had by all.
