The Easter Feast was nothing short of super fantastic.
To echo Billy Joel, “Oh what a night!” The Easter Feast was nothing short of super fantastic.
The evening saw every child and adult don their Easter bonnet – a must, if access was to be granted in to the Dining Hall. We were treated to exquisite designs – everyone really embraced the Easter spirit and it made for a very festive atmosphere. The food was delicious and the pudding was almost “Death by Chocolate, Cream and Eggs”. After the meal, we walked rather sluggishly to the Theatre where our live band, The Johnson’s, were waiting to kick off the night’s entertainment. They played popular country tunes and the children let loose – line dancing appeared which of course is obligatory at any event, worth of its country salt! The children had a lovely evening and it was a rather fitting start to our In Weekend programme.

Mini Beast from The East brings out Best in the West. We woke up on Sunday morning to find a Winter Wonderland had enveloped the school over night. One might be forgiven mistaking the lowlands of Somerset for the highlands in Scotland with the pristine blanket of white snow across the grounds, and the highland cows that had come up to the Dog Gates to peer at the house. After a hearty breakfast we decided to take on the elements and brave the snow. The buzz and excitement in the air was something to behold. This enthusiasm was expressed in the innumerable amount of snowballs thrown at one another. Staff and children were now on a level playing field and it was a Battle Royale. Some of the more creative children built snowmen or just rolled snow across the field making massive snowballs. A game of snow football was also played played on the Moore and 'snow much' fun was had by all.
After a short break of some hot chocolate and biscuits, snow activities began once again. Some of the girls decided they had had enough and went for a Spa treatment and pampering session with Mrs Robertson in Blackford. Much more relaxing and warm with soothing music being played. The afternoon was also jam packed with activities such as Easter Egg hunting, survival skills and damper bread making in the woods. Mr Robertson delivered a very poignant and heart felt Chapel all about acts of kindness emphasising the fact that we need to do things for others and be less selfish. We finished off a really fun but exhausting day watching a film in the theatre and eating some popcorn.
The hush of some really tired but satisfied and happy children filled the dining hall at the end of the day. Another great and memorable weekend at Hazlegrove!!!
