Boarders' cardboard challenge and Bollywood dancing
Simplicity is often the best recipe. With some physically tired bodies post matches on Saturday, the weekend programme was deliberately organised to open the dam of imagination and creativity.
Sunday morning saw the unusual sight of the Sports Hall becoming a temporary recycling plant for cardboard. A mound awaited our 50 plus boarders to create anything of their choice within an hour and a half. The attitude and atmosphere was fabulous with everyone embracing the challenge and having plenty of fun in the process. A Giant Turtle, Black Tipped Tiger Shark, Tank, Dens, a Horse, a Bed and some other concoctions rose from the mound like a troop of Phoenix. After the task, Mr Floyd showed the boarders a video of ‘Caine’s Arcade’, all about a nine year old who had created an Amusement Arcade out of cardboard and his imagination.
After an exquisite Sunday roast and banoffee pie, the afternoon continued with some more creative themes. Baking Damper bread on the bonfire in the Woods, Art activities, Football, Capture the Flag and the most popular, ‘Bollywood’ dancing. It was a glorious afternoon and everyone had a terrific time. The Bollywood dancers were breathtaking to watch and moved their audience with such energy and rhythm.
Following tea, we spoilt ourselves with a swim, Just Dance and some computer games. All in all, a fun weekend.
